Ready or Not, Here I Come: The Bible never says the tribulation will be 7 years long—or does it?

DISCLAIMER: This post may give you a headache. I tried to write as clearly as possible, but the subject matter taxed my writing skills to the point that succinctness and clarity could no longer live together. I chose succinctness. Please forgive my clumsiness.

Although the phrase “seven year tribulation” is very popular among Christians, it cannot be found anywhere in the Bible. Go ahead, start in Genesis and read through Revelation—or just Google it—you won’t find that phrase. In fact, the phase “seven years” is never mentioned anywhere close to the word “tribulation.” Does that mean that the tribulation is not seven years long? Maybe. Maybe not. To compliment the current sermon series at Smoke Rise Baptist Church, I am writing a series of posts about the end times. This article briefly explores what the Bible says about the great tribulation.

Ready or Not, Here I Come: The word “rapture” is not in the Bible, or is it?

Sunday, our church began a series about the 2nd coming of Jesus called, “Ready or Not, Here I Come.” Toby (our lead pastor) and I realize that neither he nor I will be able to cover the topic completely through sermons, so over the next few weeks, I plan to write a few articles addressing some of the important aspects of Jesus’ second advent (coming).
