Ready or Not, Here I Come: The Bible never says the tribulation will be 7 years long—or does it?

DISCLAIMER: This post may give you a headache. I tried to write as clearly as possible, but the subject matter taxed my writing skills to the point that succinctness and clarity could no longer live together. I chose succinctness. Please forgive my clumsiness.

Although the phrase “seven year tribulation” is very popular among Christians, it cannot be found anywhere in the Bible. Go ahead, start in Genesis and read through Revelation—or just Google it—you won’t find that phrase. In fact, the phase “seven years” is never mentioned anywhere close to the word “tribulation.” Does that mean that the tribulation is not seven years long? Maybe. Maybe not.

The phrase 7-year tribulation is not in the book of Revelation. In fact, it is not in the Bible. Why, then, do some people talk about the 7-year tribulation? The next two posts will try to answer that question.
